Is it illegal to ride a motor scooter around in your neighborhood?

My child just got a little kid motorcycle, which goes max 10 mph and is battery powered, and i want to know if it's illegal to ride it around the neighborhood.

in the uk it is illegal to ride anything on the pavement including a bicycle, however the police understand that it is wrong for children to ride on the road so it is overlooked until they are of a responsible age. in the uk that is 12

a battery powered bike is mechanically powered and would require licensing tax and an mot. again however its a toy and would be overlooked. this is different to a battery assisted bicycle where it is manually powered but assisted.


if you were in the uk it would be illegal to ride on the path and to ride on the road but it is standard presidure to ignore both

Just wondered if anyone knows the laws concering cycling on pavements with a child seat?
Im buying a rear child seat for my 1 year old daughter, But dont like the thought of biking on busy roads with her.

I don't know about the UK but there are several states in the US that is against the law to have a child under the age of one to be riding on a bicycle or trailer. It's due to the fact that their neck is not strong enough to handle the jarring. Check with you pediatrician before doing so.
