Do you think kids as young as 13 years old should be allowed to race motorcycles at speeds topping 100 mph?

I_Are_Smar

I am asking this question in light of the recent death of Peter Lenz, a 13 year old motorcycle racer.

Answer
Ref West Side.

In GP racing, the bike in question was a Morawaki MD250. Yes its called a 250 and YES it has 250cc, however in the true sense og GP racing, this machine is only a 125cc.

The new Moto3 formula ( due in 2012 to replace the 125cc 2 strokes ) will be powered by 250cc 4 stroke engines.

This sounds like "twice the engine / twice the speed " but in truth, these machines are slower then the 2 stroke machines they replace.

For any of you guys who dont follow modern Motorcycle racing ( mainly the MotoGP ) there has not been a champion in the last 30 years that did not RACING ( not riding ) when they were in single figures.

Peter Lenz won his first national title at 6 years young.
Valentino Rossi won his first title at .... 6 years young.

Maybe that might help you understand what the Lenz family were doing.

They were not trying to KILL their son, they were giving there son the best start into a wonderfull sport.

Cars that will beat a ninja 650r?

Chandler

My friend just got a 2012 ninja 650r. I am in the market to get a new car and I would like one that can beat his bike in a race. Unfortunately my price range to get this car is $7,000 tops. Thats just for the car I will be shelling out more money for performance parts.

Answer
Forget it, kid. The only performance test you'll beat him at is a collision test.

Although I cycle every day about half an hour to my work and back, although I workout two times a week I'm overweight. It's not because I eat bad food, or eat between meals, but I tend to eat too much, especially too much meat.

I've tried to diet, but dieting makes me think more and more about food, so I thought maybe it's good to do more excercising.

Doing more workout in the gym costs me too much time. So I thought about some calory burning machine, like a bicycle, or crosstrainer.

If most fat is on my abs, is a crosstrainer a good choice? Or are there better ways to train every day about twenty minutes?

Answer
The following healthy living recommendations will help you if youâre trying to lose weight, tone up your muscles, have aspirations of building lean muscle mass, are attempting to get a wash board stomach, or just want to feel better:

*1) Burn more calories then you're consuming everyday and measure your results using the following formula: Calories Consumed minus Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) minus Physical Activity minus the Thermic Effect of Food (TEF). A website that explains this formula in more detail and will help you determine how many calories you need to reach or maintain a certain weight is at http://www.primusweb.com/fitnesspartner/library/weight/calsburned.htm

Get a diet and fitness calculator that you can put on your computer or cell phone. This will allow you to easily calculate the above formula, set goals, log your daily calorie consumption, and register your physical activities.

Set realistic goals for your ideal body weight. Here are two websites that will calculate a suggested body weight:
Adults: http://www.halls.md/ideal-weight/body.htm
Teens/Children: http://www.kidshealth.org/kid/exercise/weight/bmi.html

It is difficult and unhealthy to lose more than one or two pounds per week. There are 3,500 calories in a pound. If you eat 500 fewer calories per day for a week you will lose one pound. If you burn through exercise 500 more calories per day for a week you will lose one pound.

*2) Eat natural and organic foods found on earth versus something created by a corporation to make money. Eat meals in small portions throughout the day and take a good multi-vitamin supplement.

Avoid âHigh Glycemic Load Carbsâ (sugar, pastries, desserts, refined starches such as breads, pasta, refined grains like white rice; high starch vegetables such as potatoes) and drink lots of water. Read this article for more information on high GL Carbs:
http://www.hsph.harvard.edu/nutritionsource/carbohydrates.html

Do not try fad diets or diet pills. Here is an excellent food pyramid that anyone can follow: http://www.rayandterry.com/html/images/PyramidLRG.gif?osCsid=26a424be471d1337e7c2f105d5c64d9d

*3) Exercise on most days by doing cardiovascular training and/or resistance training activities.

Read a book or find a certified trainer to make sure your doing all resistance training exercises correctly. A great book to buy that teaches you the resistance training basics is âWeight Training for Dummiesâ. A superb magazine to buy with resistance training routines that will not get you bored is "Muscle and Fitness". Signup for the free newsletter. An excellent free online resource is at http://www.exrx.net/

A good book to buy that teaches you the cardiovascular training basics is âFitness for Dummiesâ.

*4) Get plenty of sleep. Sleep experts say most adults need between seven and nine hours of sleep each night for optimum performance, health, and safety.

*5) Educate yourself continually on health issues and make a life long commitment to good health. A great free publication is âDietary Guidelines for Americans 2005â. A superb book to read is âYou The Ownerâs Manualâ. An excellent periodic publication is the âNutrition Action Health Letterâ. A reputable test you can take to measure your biological age is at http://realage.com

Look at all areas where you can enhance your health. For example, make improvements in the quality of the air you breathe. Review outdoor air quality forecasts where you live and get an indoor air purifier. How can I talk and be confident with girls?

kids bicycle for girls image

The Peacef

Hey people, I'm 14 and I'm really shy with girls. I don't know how to start a conversation or how to talk to them, I get nervous and just think they'll look at me and walk away. It doesn't help when people just say be confident or be yourself. How do I work on my confidence and how do I build up to a relationship?

Answer
This is a growing experience. I was extremely shy and was absolutely enamored with beautiful girls. To gain girls interest, they have to be interested in you first. So, give your self-time, start slow, and donât expect anything big from an acquaintance, friendship or relationship with a girl. Unfortunately, most girls up until the age of 16 are not allowed to have boy friends or dates; sometimes even 18 years old. Girls are shy too, so remember this. Plus girls at age 14 are still at an immature age and even though they too are attracted to boys, they have real high standards and wonât just give anyone the time of day. If you attempt to socialize, then be creative, use things outside yourself as excuses to talk with girls; for instance, the lunch menu at a cafeteria or maybe you run into them at the bike racks and you say something about their bike, just something small at first like: âI like that brand bicycleâ or âI like that color on your bikeâ; or you can compliment them about what they are wearing. No matter what you talk about donât come across as if you want or need something, keep it casual, laid back, relaxed but most of all be confident, donât fidget with your feet or your hands. You can keep your hands occupied by holding something in them like s set of books from one of your classes; of, if you know what she likes to read, have a copy of one of her books; but, make sure you have read it so you donât come across looking stupid. Girls like boys who believe in themselves and are confident. Of course, most boys your age are just as immature as girls if not more, so donât expect to be an Albert Einstein or a George Clooney that takes years and years to be at that level. Where talking about growing up, getting through school, getting a decent education so that you can go somewhere in your life. Let me tell you, I have been in enough relationships with girls to know that they can distract you from your lifeâs purpose. At your age you donât always know what your intended to do in this lifetime. But just being a kid, enjoying life, having fun, having a social life and getting an education are priorities. So, donât worry so much about being shy, it is natural. One more word of advice, if you want to be around girls take the same classes they do like âHome Economicsâ, âChoresâ or âCheer leading squadâ.

How come the only time you see a black person riding a bicycle, its out of necessity?

Baxter Dew

I never see black people just riding bikes for fun. Just to go for a stroll around the neighborhood, or ride around town with their kids, stuff like that. I only see black people riding bikes because they have no car. I was thinking about the Brady Bunch, where the entire family was riding their bikes around, and it seemed cool to me to do it, but when I asked my wife she said "you crazy, thats white people stuff".

Answer
Bax...about to give up on you, again...black people ride bikes for exercise all the time...get out your neighborhood which appears to be limited...go to a cycle race, state park or local trail..and do you remember the behind the scenes mess with the Brady Bunch...homo father, oldest teen son trying to bed his tv mom, Mrs. Brady having an affair where she admits she got crabs, and the girls having sex with the tv brothers, drugs, and one in a porno...now you sound like some of the whites who believe their own myths...It was a frigging tv show!! If your 'wife' won't go, then take your kids on your own..dayumm

Answer
Hi, glad to see your kid's enjoy BMX.

I don't really know FMF bmx, i never really dealed with them..

But if i am right (i am not sure correct me if i'm wrong) the FMF pro XXL is only a frame, not a complete BMX. but like i said, i'm not sure.

Anyways, FMF is a pretty good beginer bike.

I would also go look at Eastern, Fit, Subrosa, MacNeil, Animal and odessey bmx. they are the top bmx compagnie's..

for a complet bmx a good one, around 300-1200$ for a good one. chek www.danscomp.com

it also really depend's on what kind of bmx your kid's will do, there's 4 kind's of bmx and all 4kind's have diferent ting's on them. theres : Vert, Park, Flatland, Dirt. ask them it's importent.

hope it helped

Why is it so hard to find a 14-Inch bike for my son?

Abigail

My son is 3 1/2 and sat on a 12-Inch bike yesterday. He rode it great but his knees already came up high so I was thinking he needed a 14-Inch bike but they are hard to find. 12 and 16-Inch are common but why no 14-Inch? I think a 16-Inch would be too big but the 12" look small. Any suggestions?
If 14" bikes aren't made, would a 16" bike be okay or should he be on a too small 12"?
I saw one 14" bike at Toys R Us and none, anywhere else.

Answer
The standard 12, 16, 20, 24 etc. exists because the 4" gap is considered small enough to accommodate all riders. Kids bikes are one size frame (in general - but there are size differences) At 3 1/2 I would think a 12" wheeled bike would work. Was the seat all the way down when he rode it? If so you can simply raise the seat - you'll need to do this a couple times a year to keep up with his growth. Usually, by the time the seat is as high as it can go, the next size with the seat set low will work. Because kids grow so fast the in-between sizes really aren't needed.

Unless your boy is very big for his age, I'm sure a 12" would be fine with the seat adjusted. He'll out grow it but kids bikes are so cheap it's usually not a cash issue. If you can't afford it, buy a used one at a garage sale etc. Also, friends, neighbors and family are usually looking to give old ones away, like you'll be doing in a few years. And if indeed a 16" is really in order check it out on him at the store. If he won't be riding until spring then maybe a 16" will fit in 6 months.

Be sure to check his bike out over the year. My kids are the only ones in the neighborhood with the seats adjusted right, tires pumped up, chain lubed and brakes in good working order.

I'm very attentive to my kid's bikes as I'm really into cycling. My 2 daughters have progressed fine from 12" to 16" to 24" now... and I'm a picky dad when it comes to bikes. The sizes worked fine.

I am looking at buying a new mountain bike and converting it to electric...I was thinking about getting the Mongoose Status 3.0 but I couldn't find a single review except on Amazon...any suggestions?
I'm 13, about 120 (I know I'm a lightweight) and 5' 6"...
The reason that I want to convert a mountain bike to electric is because I do a lot of rough street riding, and a hybrid just won't do the trick. Also, I didn't mean full electric, just a lightweight hub motor for use on longer rides. So eff off about the Lego crap...it's a serious question.
Also, I don't really need advice about the electric components, I know my stuff about that.

Answer
Converting it to electric. No. Don't do this. Spend you money getting a nicer bike with less friction and you can go much faster. Or just buy a cheap, old scooter. Why are you doing this? Project?

If you're going to be using it as a mountain bike, it need not be electric, as that's dangerous. If you're using it as a scooter, it need not be a mountain bike: hybrid's. If this is a project and you're 13 and not rich, I'd pick a different project. One of the Lego Robots would make a good project with electricity(i.e. Lego's Mindstorm). Provide more info and I will too.

I am concerned about our booking to the Sunny Rose apartments in Crete (Hersonissos)

Susi0095

We have booked to go as a family plus my Dad - two children son is 13 and daughter is 8. I have been trying to find reviews or pictures but can only find one on the watchdog site (which sounded excellent) but went on to find feedback about the Frida Apartments which are next door (attached apparently?) and that did not sound good at all and it would seem it has more twenty somethings visiting rather than families. Now worried it is going to be too noisy for the kids at night and too boysterous during th day. Can anyone help settle my concerns has anyone been with their children?

Answer
We have just returned from a 2 week holiday to the Sunny Rose Apartments. We are a couple in our late 20's. I must say, we were also concerned as we couldn't find any reviews of the apartments, only reviews about the Frida, all of which were based upon teenagers and large groups of twenty somethings. This made us worry as it didnt sound good and we were expecting 2 weeks of hell!
Luckily, we were pleasantly surprised! Yes, the Frida apartments are close by but if you stick to the Sunny Rose, you will be fine. The Frida has its own pool so this is where you are more likely to find the youngsters, but the pool at the Sunny Rose is much more relaxed and whilst we were there, you would find couples and families. It was never overcrowded and we always managed to get a sun beds. Also, there are fantastic views of the sea and the mountains. We didnt even bother going to the Frida pool. Although it was slightly bigger, it was a lot noisier!
We never had any problems with noise at night. Our apartments were situated by the road and quite close to the Frida bar. You will find it can get a little noisy with scooters and quad bikes, but as long as the balcony doors were shut, it was fine.
The rooms are really clean and the maid service is excellent. We couldn't find any pictures either but dont worry, it is a lovely place.
The apartments are in a village called Piskopiano, not directly in Hersonnisos. Although Hersonnisos is only a 10/15 walk, i would avoid going there at night as it is very lively and where all the youngsters go. As you have children, it would be fine to go early but when we went, by 11/12pm it gets quite crazy!
At night, i would recommend you go to the other villages close by, Old Hersonnisos and Koutalafari. These are a 5/10 min walk and have such lovely restaurants with fantastic sea views. These villages are very relaxing, with many couples and families. We ate at a different restaurant every night and never had a bad meal. The food is great!! They are really traditional Greek villages with a relaxing atmosphere.

I hope this has helped you and i am sure your holiday will be brilliant.

Why do the cops let some kids ride their 4 wheelers on the streets and without helments?

jean ann j

Concerned people that see kids going as fast as they can without helments on, on four wheelers, call the police. The police come out and just look and do nothing. Also the kids suddenly go into their houses.

Answer
Yeah, you're in the wrong section. This is a Cycling section. 2 Wheels with pedals.

Cops don't always let this by, but in some cases they do. I've seen multiple 5-8 year olds ride a bike without a helmet in a park which is right across a police station. Now some cops just don't always bust people when they see something wrong. I once road on a sidewalk to get through a intersection on my bike and a police officer just starred and took a grin at me. He knew i saw him, yet i still didn't get a ticket.

If you are so concerned, maybe you should just call and make a complaint the next time you see them

How do stores measure bike / bicycle sizes? ie.16",20" etc. Is it the outside tire or the inner rim or what?

Mom 2 ZM

I need to get a new bike for my soon to be 6 year old. He is on the bigger side of an almost 6 year old (not fat, just build) and I have no clue on how to measure his current bike to get the next size up for his birthday next week. Please help!

Answer
Kid's and adult's bikes are measured differently, btw. For kids, it's the wheel diameter, which may be printed on the side of the tire. If it's not, measure the outside of the tire from one side to the other - children's bikes are either 12", 16", 20" or 24", so there's enough variance that you'll be able to tell pretty easily which one his is.

Look at your son's inseam measurement to determine what size to get him.

And happy birthday to him!

I have a 2002 Ford Taurus with 148,000 miles (from the divorce) and my kids are insisting that I get out of it. I have a big dog and a bike and I am thinking about getting a pickup. I have driven a Ford Ranger, but it seems to small. I can't afford much right now, so what should I be looking for? I would love a 4-door F-150. Any suggestions? I wouldn't be hauling much but the big lab dog and my bike, but can't do either with my car. Of course, tags, taxes and insurance are considerations also.

Answer
You must have a huge dog if you cannot move it in your car. You can always install a tow hitch and get a bike rack, or a roof rack (unless you mean motorcycle). This would be considerably cheaper. Keep in mind that with a truck insurance is higher and gas is higher (trust me, I went from a Taurus to a truck). If you want to make the move before the car dies, go with a small truck. I got a Nissan Frontier (the old style, smaller) which I love. The Toyota Tacomas are great. If you are not hauling a lot then a smaller truck will get better gas milage and serve all your needs. Try a used one from Carmax and you probably will like the decision.

Who is more likely to get thrown the farthest off a motorcycle, a heavier person or a lighter person?Lets say?

DC

all conditions are exactly the same for both riders, same speed same bike, same gender etc.only difference is one weighs more than the other.

Answer
A friends son who is a very big boy seems to bounce heaps better when he comes of the bike due to the extra padding that he has on his body. But there are way to many variables as with this boy on his bike the set up for the bike has to be way different as it is like hauling around an extra kid. My son is very light and he doesn't bounce very well and has had quite a number of injuries but his bike can sometimes be faster as he is not as heavy on it as some of the other riders.
All in all they can both get hurt if they stack bad enough

I'm renting a fully furnished apartment in Montreal. All of the furnishings are supplied and owned by my landlord but he has advised that I need to get content insurance. My only belongings are clothes, kids toys, a laptop, digital camera and my bicycle.

Am I obligated to get content insurance?

Answer
A lot of insurance companies that you have your car with will offer renters insurance for little or nothing.. I've seen them advertising it as little as $5 a month if you carry car insurance with them, but by no means are you required to carry renters insurance.

How did people in the 50's entertain themselves?

Q. As in How did they Communicate? What Music did they listen to and how did they listen to it? What type of clothes did they wear? What was it like doing things without the technology we have today?

Answer
We did not need all the instant communication and instant gratification folks must have now. We actually read books ( imagine that!) , listened to the radio, Actually the radio was in some ways better than TV- you had to use your imagination when listening to a mystery story, etc. The telephone was around of course, but no calls trying to sell something. And you always called at a courteous hour.

We called the women " Ma'am", and the men "SIr", and to refer to anyone in derogatory terms as a kid, was to risk the wrath of your parents. I grew up in South Florida, so there was fishing- used to go out over the second reef- 20+ miles out in a 16 foot skiff with 5 hp motor, and thought nothing of it. Tramped around the Everglades and the Big Cypress a lot when old enough to drive there.

No power mowers- you mowed the lawn with a push reel type mower. In High School, the most common transportation was a bicycle, only a few had cars. We could leave school at lunchtime if we were back in class on time. Dress was very conservative by today's standards- jeans and shirts for the boys mainly, dresses for the girls, Only the rowdy "bad boys" smoked, and I was not aware of any drugs in HS. There may have been some, but I was never approached.

A friend of mine and I built a twin-engine radio controlled bomber, with two radio controls- one to fly the plane the other to operate the bomb bays. That was when you had to BUILD the radio control units- no hobby stores to sell them ready made. Would bomb the basketball courts on Saturdays with a kind of firecracker that exploded on impact.

We built a pram- a little 8 foot long boat and used it to explore the local rivers and lakes. Folks were very obliging in helping us move it around before we had a car. My first car was after I was out of High School- a car 3 years older than I was. Amazing how long a car can last with no maintenence. Cost $75, as I recall.

The Miami Serpentarium would pay 25 cents a foot for Cottonmouths, 50 cents a foot for live Rattlesnakes, so we earned our money doing chores for local businesses and catching snakes in the Everglades. I was packing a .45 automatic at age 15 out in the woods, and no one thought anything of it. I once rode the bus downtown carrying a rifle that needed to be fixed to a gunsmith. The bolt was out, but not everyone could see that. Nowadays, that would bring out the SWAT team. No one was concerned then. We never locked our doors. In fact, when we decided it might be a good idea to lock the house when everyone was out, we could not find the keys.

So- we were busy, not bored. We were expected to be able to take care of ourselves . We learned to be independent, not dependent.

We were expected to show respect to our elders. If we did something wrong, you can bet our folks knew about it before we got home. I did NOT want to get my father angry at me.

If we wanted something, we had to earn it. I sold newspapers to buy my first BB gun. Had a newspaper route for about 3 years. You went house to house to collect. No credit cards, business was cash only. If you did not have the money, you earned it or did without.
Everyone's memories are different, depending on where they grew up, but the basics were the same. You learned to earn your way. You did not expect someone to solve your problems for you. You were civil to people. And you were expected , and assumed to be , honest until you proved you were not.

Sundown

My gf kid is 6 yrs old so some kid friendly projects would be cool too.

Answer
buy him a new bicycle from walmart . Then take it apart before you give it to him. Wheels off , chain off , handle bars off , seat off , the tires off of the rims , every thing off. !

Then you can teach him how to put it all back together. This will teach something he use in the future to repair and adjust his own bikes for himself . Like when he gets a flat tire on his bike.
But you have to let him reassemble it himself , with only your supervision.

Plus , he gets a new bike for Christmas ;) early X mas present .

He opens the box " what is this ?" .... " your new bike , all you have to do is put it together ! "
Dont forget to take the tires off the rims , he needs to learn that too.

I live in a neighborhood with a lot of different sizes of hills (small, steelp, in between) and i want to get a biike that is good for just riding around the neighborhood and can go up and down the hills. i also prefer a bike with brakes on the handles. as for gears, i know nothing about( where they are, what its used for, or what they even do and if it will serve any kind of purpose to me) im not a PRO biker and im not trying to be and i dont plan on riding every single day ( maybe 3-4 times a week). i just want to ride it to simply travel around the neighborhood. the sidewalks are really smooth as well if that helps. and theres a lot of turns. so based on all thaat, what kind of bike should i get?

Answer
Number 1 rule...stay OFF sidewalks! Sidewalks are for pedestrians. Streets are for "VEHICLES" - such as the bicycle. Little kids learn how to ride on sidewalks. R U still a little kid? In many parts of the country it's highly ILLEGAL to ride on sidewalks, i.e. Chicago, Manhattan Borough of New York, any business district in St. Louis, etc.

You NEED something like a hybrid or pure road bike. As you are a newbie, I'd go with a hybrid. Bicycle gears are EASY to comprehend. On a typical 21 or 24 speed bike, you have a triple crankset up front & either 7 or 8 gears on the rear cog.

1st gear up front is used for uphill climbs & slow conditions. On the rear, use ONLY gears 1 through 4 while in 1st gear up front.

2nd gear up front is the one most used for flat terrain & rolling hills. Use any of the 7 rear gears. Or on an 8 speed cassette - use gears 2 through 7.

3rd gear up front is for very fast or downhill conditions. Use ONLY gears 4 through 7 on a 7 speed cog & only gears 5 through 8 on an 8 speed cassette.

Why? This prevents "cross chaining" the bike - putting too much lateral (side-to-side) stress on the chain, gears & derailleurs.

G.T.A.B.S. Means Go To A Bicycle Shop - where test riding a bike before the sale is both FREE & ENCOURAGED. Avoid discount stores at all cost. Minimum wage "associates" who know nothing & can't even assemble a bike correctly. Start looking at bikes like a Raleigh Cadent FT1 (man) or an Alysa FT1 (woman).
http://www.raleighusa.com/bikes/fitness/cadent-ft1-13/
http://www.raleighusa.com/bikes/fitness/alysa-ft1-13/

Add a rear rack & either a trunk bag or panniers (saddle bags) and you have a nice "commuter bicycle". http://s382.photobucket.com/user/OldHippie_01/media/2013%20Raleigh%20Cadent%20FT1/100_0364.jpg.html?sort=3&o=0

What Is The Best Item You Ever Found At A Thrift Store Or Yard Sale?

elvisgurly

What is the best item you ever found at a thrift store or yard sale?

Do you think thrift stores charge reasonable prices or charge way too much?

Answer
My wife found one of those kid's electric cars for $5...and the guy threw in a toddler bike with training wheels for 50 cents.

But the killer of all garage sale items was the lady trucker who bought what she thought was just some old painting of flowers...turned out to be an $18M Van Gogh. Lucky lady!!!

How do I go about getting Motorcycle license?

Daisy

Hi~
When I was a kid we rode dirt bikes and mini bikes.

That was a long time ago!

I would really like to re-learn how to ride a motorcycle and get a bike and get my license and every thing.

How do I get this process started?

Thank you!
I live in Ohio.
I live in Ohio.

Answer
I can not give a truly accurate answer without knowing where you live. Local laws on this can vary widely.

However I can give a generic answer.

In most places your motorcycle license is just an endorsement that is added to your regular driver's license. Therefore, you must first get your regular driver's license.

Next, you must get a motorcycle license learner's permit. The procedure for this can vary. But usually all you do is go to the DMV. Pay a fee. Pass a test on a computer.

Your learner's permit is a restricted license. Usually you will be required to have a licensed motorcycle rider riding with you. No passengers. Daylight hours only. Helmet even if riding without a helmet is allowed in your location.

Now would be a very good time to get enrolled in an accredited motorcycle safety course. In some places this is mandatory. Many times you do not need to own a motorcycle yet as the course can provide a bike for you to use. Keep an open mind and pay attention. You just may lear something that could save your life.

Practice, practice, practice...

When you are ready you can take your motorcycle license road test. If you pass you get your motorcycle endorsement on your regular driver's license.

In some locations your first motorcycle license will be restricted. You may be restricted to a certain engine size or horsepower. However, other locations like where I live you can ride any size bike you want the day you get your motorcycle license.

Some advice for your first bike. Forget about the sexy and fast Sport Bike for your first bike. These are not for a complete novice like you. Use some common sense and get a bike that appropriately matches your skill level. Also, don't get a new bike. Look for a nice used bike for your first bike. This is because if you get a bike that matches your skill level, you may want to move up to a larger bike in a year or so as your skill level increases. If you take care of your starter bike and don't beat the crap out of it you won't lose much money when it comes time to sell it. You can put this money towards your next bike.

You need to contact your local DMV for more information. If you live in the US, the link below may be helpful.

Ride safe. Have Fun

Always remember this. On a motorcycle stupid hurts

What happens if you work out frequently without eating a lot?

gravvyboat

I've been working out more and more. But I haven't been eating more. I generally eat less than 2,000 calories a day.

I'm 6'2", 180 lbs. Daily I ride 10 miles on a bike, run a mile, 2 max sets of hindu pushups. 2 max sets of situps and 3 sets of 10 pull ups.

I know conventional wisdom says I need to eat like 9 meals a day of a dozen fruits, nuts, and what not to get up to probably 3k calories per day. But could this be wrong?

Basically, I feel great, have very good energy (great energy when I get red meat) and I look great too.

Has there ever been any research into this? Does anyone have any personal experience or know the effects of such behavior?

Send me an email or yahoo instant message to "gainbetterhealth" if you want an indoor air purifier recommendation and if you have any questions.

*Click on all the source links below to get the full benefit of the recommendations. How much should I charge for a 3 - 4 year old kids bike?

Paige B

I just bought a bike for my 12 and 13 year old. I have one bike I'm going to sell, but I don't know how much to charge them. Also I just bought a new camera and now running low on some cash. I need to buy a new set of golf clubs for my 12 year old too.

Answer
It would depend a lot on how much you spent. If it was an inexpensive bike, possibly bought at a department store, you might be better off donating it to good will or to the Yellow Bike Project and taking it off on your income tax. A bike that old will not bring much in return. If it was more of a high-end bike, you may get something for it, but again things have changed so much in that time, probably not very much.

If it is a high-end bike, you might go by a local bike shop and ask them.

If you really want a price, I would guess you could not get ore than $10 or $15. You might get a bit more if it is in good condition.

What to charge for these at a yard sale?

How can I make some extra money on the side?

kids bike lessons
on Child's Bike With Training Wheels - Royalty Free Clipart Image
kids bike lessons image
Q. I am going into grade 10, which I have been told is the hardest grade in highschool, so a job would be too much, since I also take guitar lessons. I am one of those people who likes to go places, which requires money. Please do not suggest online money making opportunities because I dont want to waste my time on those. All suggestions are appreciated. I am not looking to get rich, just something on the side so I am not completely broke.

Answer
There are many ways of earning extra money. In some cases, people lose their jobs and it becomes survival money. All of the ideas that follow offer potentially good opportunities to earn some extra cash.

Volunteering
Work at a place that might have job opportunities for you e.g. a seniors center, hospital, golf course, etc. Meet a lot of people and network. They know people who know people and so on. The volunteering can also be personally enriching. Make suggestions for jobs you see need doing e.g. teaching the elderly how to use a computer.

Garage sales
Recycling and reusing are not dirty words! There is a ton of stuff out on garbage night that could be picked up that is still useful. If cleaned up or slightly repaired it is potentially worth lots of money e.g. picture frames, small furniture, sports equipment, cutlery and dinnerware, glass & pottery, jewelry, books, computer parts, etc. Once you get good at it and know prices, start going to garage sales and buy stuff that can be resold at a higher price at your own regular garage sales or at used goods shops.

Resell to Dealers
Flea market sellers, antique dealers, and consignment stores are only a few of the people who survive on the sale of used goods.

- TV's that people throw out can be worth about $10-$20 each to repair people who are always on the lookout.
- bikes can be sold to bike repair people and/or used sports equipment dealers. The going rate is anywhere from $10 and up. If they can be fixed at home, they can sell privately. Older "antique" bikes are often highly desirable. Ads in the paper and Buy & Sell type magazines should clear them out quickly for you.
- dehumidifiers and humidifiers can be sold to businesses that repair and sell them. If somebody is handy, it is usually easy to repair many dehumidifiers as the only thing wrong with many of them is a seized motor. A little oil and a few spins and it often works again, no problem. In the summer they sell for about $50-$60 if in good working condition.

Think of all the university student rooms and apartments that need a humidifier in the winter.

Sports Equipment
There is a lot of money in sports equipment. Ice skates, roller blades, snowboards, skateboards, etc. Get familiar with what used goods stores want and buy up newer models at yard/garage sales, estate sales, church rummage sales, etc. Sell them to "Play It Again Sports" stores. It is possible to find them all year for about $2-$10 and you can get $15-$25 or more for them at the stores. It is very easy to build up credits and then buy your own new sports equipment at minimum cost. In many cases, it is also possible to get cash for the equipment. Make sure there are no breaks or missing parts. It has to be flawless for safety reasons.

Door-to-door Selling
Find a product that could easily be sold door to door e.g. economy size boxes of saran wrap, garbage bags, deodorizers, etc. Something small and useful that everybody uses all the time. A novelty toy sold to kids in tourist districts is good too. Be alert and cautious when doing this!

Used Paperbacks and Novels
Check with used book dealers first to see how much they pay for them - usually from 25 cents and up. Also find out which books they find most desirable. Go to garage sales and buy them for about 10-15 cents each or cheaper. Some dealers also sell old magazines. Again, first find out which ones are most desirable. Check out garage sales and especially rummage sales at churches or schools for books. Although small, profit can be at least 50% or better.

Yard Work
If you have fairly good tools, cut lawns, rake areas, etc. Gotta do a good job though!!

Useful Services
Look for needs in parking lots, parks, busy streets, in grocery stores, etc. Walking dogs, watering plants regularly in somebody's yard, doing the edge trimming work around lawns ((I'm sure there are people who dislike that job as much as I do and would pay a kid to do it) One young girl was paid $15/hr to watch a company machine seal envelopes. They couldn't afford to not have anybody there if it jammed.

Garage Door Art
Imagine all the plain, unattractive "canvasses" attached to almost every house just waiting to be covered. Offer to put on large house numbers, pleasant abstract patterns or landscapes. Match or extend the painting to a nearby garden or walkway. With a few cans of paint, brushes and imagination, you can be making $100 or more per garage door.

Porch Rail Painting
Ever notice all the rusty porch railings in your neighborhood? With minimum investment of a few basic colors of rust-proof paint, a wire brush, metal sandpaper and some good small hairy roller brushes, you could make a lot of money sprucing them up.

What would you do If some Gangs came and took your Bikes out of your garage?

My husband went on foot and got with another neighbor and found our bikes and got them back, The little boys said that they were walking and some teenagers ask them if they wanted some new bikes so that they would not have to walk anymore. My Husband is Ex-Military. WELL HE GOT OUR BIKES BACK, If this had happened to you what would you have done?

Answer
Good for your husband ... its nice to see someone who will hold people accountable. Since it's kids <little from what you described> ... this may help them learn a valuable lesson.

However, I'm a shivering little giraffee poop, and I'd probably just cry. You're lucky to have a husband like that and friends to help you.

Thinking of ways to deter vehicles from driving 2 inches from us at high rates of speed while we walk/run?

DKA

Thinking of ways to deter vehicles from driving 2 inches from us at high rates of speed while we walk/run around the lake even though we are all the way over on the correct side and including times we have kids with us. We have thought of sharpie markers, pepper spray (paint damage, maybe?). Any other ideas? Even if we got the license plate number do police have to have "proof" they put us in danger?

Answer
Make yourself highly visible. Wear reflective vests, flashing lights, even tie a helium balloon to your wrist or to the stroller. I got a pair of cheap flashing lights (originally for bicycles) which I tie to my ankles when I run at night. This helps tremendously when I try to cross the road; without it no one stops, not even at marked and well-lit crossings. It seems the periodic flash is enough to draw their attention from their cellphone or daydream or whatever else it is they're doing behind the wheel while going 50 in a residential area.

Don't try and get aggressive. You will always lose to a 2000-lb vehicle. And punishment by the police after the fact still puts you in danger. What you want to achieve is elimination of the hazard in the first place.

Talk with the local authority of installing speed bumps on this part of the road.

What would be a good starting dirt bike for a girl?

kids bike wheel replacement image

Julz C

Im 15 years old, about 5'5" and im learning how to dirt bike. My dad offered a Kawasaki klx 110. Would that be a good bike to start on?

Answer
Julz,
Ignore the idiots. Kids start riding as young as 4 with PW's and the like. Girls should ride as much as guys. My little sister rides and has fun. Riding is not a "man" only thing. if you want, some of the plastics manufacturers, like ACERBIS, make pink and purple replacement plastics for the KLX.

at 5'5" The KLX would be good. Make sure he gets the regular wheeled version. If there is a "tall" wheeled version, the bike may be a bit tall. Thus it wouldn't do much for your confidence since you can't touch the ground.

The other option is the TTR110E from Yamaha. Same type of four stroke 110CC motor in a small wheeled package. The TTR110L is the big wheeled bike.

See if your dad will take you to the bike shop to go sit on them. Realistically, you only need to have 1 foot on the ground to ride a motorcycle, just like a bicycle. However, having both feet touch, even if it's the balls of your feet will help your confidence when you're a beginner.

How much does it cost for a motorcycle wheel alignment?

David

My friend crashed his motorcycle, therefore, needs some fender replacements on the front and side. His handlebar angle to the front wheel is way off now. How much would it cost to align it back to normal?

It looks like I can adjust it myself too with a large wench.. what should I do?

Answer
Let me tell you that this is no joke. The alignment of the forks and triple-trees is no simple matter after a crash. If the parts don't fit together EXACTLY, any tweaking you have to do will throw the bike out of alignment. If the axle doesn't slide through perfectly to the other side, same thing.

You can try it yourself and see how you do. But if you bring it to someone because it doesn't ride straight, the shop will have to take everything apart and check each part for straightness. Each part that he finds is not straight will have to be replaced.

I know this from personal experience with a friend's bike too. After we fixed it for him (we were all on a trip together and we chipped in) it didn't ride perfectly straight (it wasn't bad, really).

My mechanic found that one fork leg wasn't straight, the fender was tweaked. and the axle wasn't straight. He checked everything on a special table. He showed us and we couldn't believe that such small things could really have that affect. Well we went ahead and no kidding it rode perfectly straight after he gave it back to us.

How to turn from ugly to attractive to girls (I'm a guy)?

First, I have kind of ugly teeth, they're yellow small, some are crooked and they look a bit rocky. Next I'm kind of fat. I dress kind of bad. Can I fix my teeth without spending alot of money? How to lose weight fast? Btw I'm 13 years old help. Also I'm sort of shy of talking to girls because I don't like being laughed at so I try to hide my teeth. But I'm no so ugly. Lastly these girls like attractive boys so help please?

Answer
Oh dear.
Teeth: try asking your dentist about getting a retainer; it'll fix your teeth a little bit without costing as much as braces. You can also try out whitening strips to make your teeth whiter.
Being fat: just start eating right! Add in fruits and vegetables and take out some of the greasy, unhealthy foods you may be eating. Also, drink a lot of water. Try doing 30 minutes of cardio (running, jogging, riding a bike) three times a week. Then add in some strength excercises (push ups, sit ups) three to four times a week.
Being shy: just be confident! a girl will never know you're shy, if she sees the confidence you're showing on the outside. And remind yourself when you get nervous, if you don't talk to a girl, you'll never find out if she might like you. If she says no, oh well. And move on. If she says yes, then great (:

But you're still growing, you're 13! Most buys thin out as they get older, and as puberty does its job. And hun, looks aren't everything. If you're truly a good kid, any girl will fall for you, even if your teeth are yellow. Trust me. Good luck (:

What is the happiest thing that has ever happened to you?

Q. Other than having a child or getting married to your love. Those two things are obviously everyone's number one happiest moments. I know it's mine.

Think deep now. I'm thinking too and I will write back with my number one moment.

Answer
In nineteen sixty one my dad took me for a long walk up Arras Road to the M.L.S. (Maple Leaf Service) It was a strip mall in Base Borden and it is still there but under a different name.
Well it was a sunny summer day and we walked Father & Son up the street beside the tall pines, and crossed the field where the path was worn to the yellow sand. You could hear the cicada's singing in the air, the breeze was gentle with the smell of pine, and I was with my dad by his invitation.
I don't know what we talked about, or how much I ran around him like a little boy would but I do remember his smile. He was a soldier, and a scrapper born in the dirty thirties, raised in Cabbagetown Toronto. He was tough. He was my dad.
We walked across the field, and through the pavement to the main building where the grocery store was onto the sidewalk.
It was hot, and my dad started across the front of the supermarket and bypassed the entrance went around the building and continues on past the dentist, doctor, and even went by the pharmacy where you could get the best candy in that strip mall. I followed him around that corner down the walk to the end and left on the walk where it headed for the Hardware store. I had no idea what my dad was doing, I didn't know what was on his mind. I was just with my dad; me and him, no brothers or sister or mother to interfere. It was grand!
So into the hardware store we went and around to the back and my dad stopped and started haggling price with one of the salesmen while I was ogling the two wheelers not listening to the men talk.
Dad calls me over; points to the rack of two wheeled bikes and says ..."pick one son".
I couldn' t believe it!.!.!. REALLY?
They were all second hand bikes but I didn't care........I grabbed hold of a 24 incher and out the door we went to test drive it. Well I did. Dad just stood at the store door watching. I could barely manage the pedals but it was going to be mine and all I had to say was yes when dad asked if I wanted it.
He questioned me at some length but was satisfied that I was able to handle the bike. I was ecstatic. It was a freedom for me to have that bike. It meant I could go anywhere in Camp Borden as long as I had my bike. My dad paid for it and all the way home he was smiling and between my grins and a thousand thank-you's me and my dad eventually got back to 72 Arras Rd.
Off the top of my head darlin....That was the happiest thing to have happened to me. Back in the summer of nineteen sixty one on a 24 incher C.C.M. with my dad.

I have heard about this theory already and it seemed interesting i already know Nazz's life but i want to know everyone's back story to there so called death I'd really like to share this website or the stories to my friends and ruin there childhood memories

Answer
Do you mean this: http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/WMG/EdEddNEddy

The cul-de-sac is a sort of cursed grounds, those who lived there and died before they got to grow up are stuck there on a different plane in a purgatory-esque state.

â¢Rolf was first to arrive, he immigrated from the old world to the neighborhood (it didn't look like it does in the cartoon), died in the 1900s and kept his animals and his old-world farming sensibilities from that time
â¢Jonny had no friends so Plank became his imaginary friend, died in the 1920s. He kept Plank along with him.
â¢Eddy came next in the 1930s. His scheming nature stems from his experiences during the Great Depression, doing anything to get what little money he can.
â¢Sarah and Ed came next in the late 40s. The cul-de-sac now sort of looks like it does in the cartoon, preplanned developments were popular then. Their mother was a hard worker and Sarah learned her attitudes from that. Ed just shut it all out, becoming preoccupied with the comic books and movies that were cropping up and becoming popular with kids during that era. They both died in the 1950s, perhaps a car accident.
â¢Nazz was next, a flower child of hippies in the late 60s. Died in the 70s.
â¢Edd, the son of two controlling business people, prone to abusing him and giving him his meek and introverted style. Died in the late 80s of a head wound which never healed / scarred horribly, which is why he always wears the hat.
â¢Kevin's father was abusive as well, so he would ride his bike to escape and bully others because that's all he knew. When he died of a bike accident in the 90s, he shut out his father's old identity, pretending that his life now was with a father that gives him gifts and stays out of his way.
â¢Jimmy is last, died in the early 2000s, probably of a terminal illness.
â¢The Kanker sisters are the guardians of the cul-de-sac, there to trip anyone up anytime someone gets the notion to venture too far away.
â¦That doesn't exactly explain brutally attacking the Cul-de-sac when they lost their ship in a bottle, if they were guardians, they probably wouldn't care about that, unless it was some sort of Artifact of Doom.
â And not to mentioned the whole thing was jossed by the movie, which they traveled out of Peach Creak/cul-de-sac.
â¦This is possibly the most depressing WMG I have ever seen. And with some refining... it could make sense.
â ...Fic please?
â Seconded.
â¦Wait, so Ed Edd n' Eddy is Angel Beats!?
