Q. i have a 7 year old son that doesn't like to play. he is very scared to get on swings, run around with kids because he scarred of falling. he doesn't like monkey bars even if i hold him because he thinks he will fall. he doesn't want to ride a bike with training wheels because he doesn't want to get hurt.
he never wants to try something new. when we go to a family party he doesn't want to dance because he is shy and doesnt want people laughing.
he is scarred of everything!!! don'tnt know how to make him lose his fears...also in school he lets other kids tell him what to do he gives away when people need it and even money if he has it. he has a very nice heart and he will give up his stuff just to help someone but dintnt want him to be a push over but also not to be mean. how can i help him ?
i put him in soccer but he is scarred of the ball hitting him. he goes to practice and plays but he doesn't want to be near the ball but he likes the sport.
What can i do?
no, i don't take it offensively. you might be right and it might be something i need to do. this has been happening for a while now but it was worst before. now he plays more and is kind of losing his fear but they are still there. he is very scare to try something new. i didn't want to take him to a psychologist because i thought maybe if i took him out more often he would just lose it little by little but i guess not.

well kids are not born with fears, when we are babies we have 2 main fears, heights and loud noises and everything else we learn, so at some point in life you or someone else has taught him to be scared of these things, like saying don't do that you might get hurts etc, my grandmother taught me to be scared of dogs, and now my kids are scared of them because they saw me running from them when they were little.
So you need to get him some therapy if you really want to stop this, because just making him do these things will make it worse, and he might just snap, either get him professional help, or leave it.
but the giving stuff away is not good, tell him not to give people at school things, if necessary do not give him any money to give away.

what is a good bike to use for racing for a 7 year old?
EpicRacer
my little bro is getting into racing and i want to get him off the piece of crap he's been riding. he doesnt need anything expensive or fancy, maybe a 6 speed or something simple. he's justing starting out so i have to "train" him a lot. i was looking at getting him a kids specialized since i have a Spec Epic, so i though matching bikes would be a cool thing. he rides a 20", let me know if there any other good bike out there. i dont want to spend more than $300. i think the specialized was $270.
right now he's got a purple Rallye (not Raleigh!) that barely works and weighs almost as much as my bike, lol.
this is for XC mountain biking. i know the emphasis at this age should be fun, but he needs a bike that actually works. i dont want to turn him into a "win at all costs" racing machine.

gosh i love purple. at the age of 7 though the most important thing is having fun...actually it still is for me at 33. He probably wont understand the signifigance of having a Specialized and probalby could care less that you ride an Epic. Just make sure when your "training" him, that you train him how to have fun and respect riders and trails....oh and how to fix simple things like flats, chain suck, etc...
