hey can some one tell me the basic diffirence in the -yamaha 125 ttr- and the -yamaha 125 yz-
thank you.
Answer
TTR = Off road 4-stroke bike. Considered 'midsize' meaning, it's got smaller wheels and a lower seat height. Target rider is beginning to intermediate person up to about 5' 4" in height.
Very smooth power, reliable, easy to ride. Because of softer suspension and less power, not good for freestyle, motocross and supercross. Easy to maintain.
YZ = Professional Motocross bike. 2-stroke. Full Size bike for advanced riders 5'5" and taller.
Explosive power, excellent suspension and handling in the right hands. Designed for Freestyle, motocross, or supercross tracks (yes, it can be ridden on trails, but by an experienced rider). More maintenance required.
Bottom line? The YZ has almost THREE TIMES the power of the TTR. Sort of like comparing a kids tricycle to Lance Armstrong's race bicycle :)

Whats a good cruiser bike to begin with?
GL
I'm from California and Harleys have always been my preference over an "crotch-rocket". I'm 23 and being in the military gets me the saftey course for free. I figure what better time to learn than now? I'm about 5'8 and a half with an inseam of about 33 inches. Only bike I've ever sat on was an 1100 Yamaha and my toes barely touched the ground (maybe I hadn't reached full height yet, that was about 7 years ago). With that being said, shoot away recommendations for a guy who's about to become a newbie to the morotcycle world. Thanks for your time!
Answer
You want a cruiser, so the answerer suggests a standard. Some people, sheesh!
I assume you know how to ride a pedal bicycle.
The Standard suggestion is a Honda Rebel, for you I would suggest a Suzuki S40, another "beginner" bike but one that can do 85+ mph and is faster off the line than most anything else under a liter. Very bike to bob, and customize yourself.
OR --
Get a Harley! You want one? Many people start with a H-D without a problem. Kid at work started with a Dyna, swapped in six months for a Softtail. Never even dropped it. Made sure to not since his was smaller than you and didn't know how to pick it up if he dropped it.
My opinion, either the Big Single, or a Big Harley. The Single is easy to learn, to ride, fast enough. At 380 pounds you can pick it if you drop it. The Big Harley would be heavier, but with the techinque you can easily but it back on it's wheels. And there is a H-D dealer close to nearly any military base. I am biased at the Big Single, 'cause I have had mine for 8 years. But there is nothing that matches a H-D.
