Do you think kids as young as 13 years old should be allowed to race motorcycles at speeds topping 100 mph?

I am asking this question in light of the recent death of Peter Lenz, a 13 year old motorcycle racer.

Answer
Ref West Side.

In GP racing, the bike in question was a Morawaki MD250. Yes its called a 250 and YES it has 250cc, however in the true sense og GP racing, this machine is only a 125cc.

The new Moto3 formula ( due in 2012 to replace the 125cc 2 strokes ) will be powered by 250cc 4 stroke engines.

This sounds like "twice the engine / twice the speed " but in truth, these machines are slower then the 2 stroke machines they replace.

For any of you guys who dont follow modern Motorcycle racing ( mainly the MotoGP ) there has not been a champion in the last 30 years that did not RACING ( not riding ) when they were in single figures.

Peter Lenz won his first national title at 6 years young.
Valentino Rossi won his first title at .... 6 years young.

Maybe that might help you understand what the Lenz family were doing.

They were not trying to KILL their son, they were giving there son the best start into a wonderfull sport.

Cars that will beat a ninja 650r?

Chandler

My friend just got a 2012 ninja 650r. I am in the market to get a new car and I would like one that can beat his bike in a race. Unfortunately my price range to get this car is $7,000 tops. Thats just for the car I will be shelling out more money for performance parts.

Answer
Forget it, kid. The only performance test you'll beat him at is a collision test.
