I am a 17 year old girl who is 5'2 and weighs 115. what size? and what kind of dirtbike is better, perferably a 2 stroke.
Also what age is a good age to start off a kid on a dirtbike?
Answer
I would recommend going to the local motorcycle shop and sitting on a bunch of different bikes to see what you fit best on, then go out and look for a used one. You can save thousands of dollars purchasing used. The money you save can go to riding gear, gas, oil and tools.
You are the same height as my wife. She rides a Yamaha TTR 125 and fits on it perfectly. You can also look into a Honda CRF 150.
If you want a 2-stroke, you are going to either have to go with a 85cc 2-stroke big wheel or an older 100cc 2-stroke.

Modern motocross bikes (1990's to present) have a seat height of around 37", even the 125cc 2-strokes. You would have to go pre 1980 to find a seat height lower than 37" on a full size dirt bike.
2-stroke or 4-stroke. Single cylinder 2-stroke produce more power and torque and a single cylinder 4-stroke of the same engine size. 2-strokes are lighter, have less moving parts, are easier to work on, have harder hitting power bands and cheaper to maintain. 4-strokes are heavier, have many more moving parts, are harder to work on, give smoother power delivery and are more expensive to rebuild. A 4-stroke can go much longer in between engine rebuilds compared to a 2-stroke, but when a 4-stroke needs an engine rebuild it will cost 5 times the cost.
4-strokes are easier to learn to ride on than 2-strokes because you can go slow, make mistakes and the engine will just keep on thumping along. In the same circumstance a 2-stroke will stall.
You can find used bikes on Ebay, Craigslist, BikeFinds and CycleTrader. You can also locate used riding gear on Ebay, Craigslist, flea markets and garage sales.
What age is a good age to start a child on a dirt bike? 3-5. There is a child out there right now that is 23 months old. You go JASON...lol! Can you imagine the skill that kid is going to build up by the time he is 10?

Last thing. Stay away from the Chinese pit bikes. They are clones of Japanese or European bikes. They do not have the craftsmanship, quality or reliability of their Japanese or European counterparts. I own both Japanese and European motocross bikes. I also own 2 pit bikes. We use them for basic transportation around our property. For that, they are fine, but I wouldn't trust them on a long trail ride or on a motocross track.

MARK GAMEZ
what is a good size dirt bike for a 12 year old kid who loves to ride and do you suggest its ok to buy a used one
Answer
the perfect bike would be the crf150, its not to fast because its a 4 stroke but its a 150 so its got the power, i dont know he tall he is but the seat height is right around the cr80 height. or you could get him a cr80 but those things are fast. the 150 you could get a used one because it is newer and the 80 i wouldnt because alot of people race them and thats not too good on the bike
