Hello!

I am looking for movies with child protagonists that deal with more serious subject matter.
Examples that I have enjoyed:

The Boy in the Striped Pajamas
Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close
Let the Right One In

Foreign ones are okay too, I found quite a few French movies that fit the bill perfectly:
The Kid With a Bike
Tomboy
10½

Answer
A bit more information is needed before solutions can be explored.....why do you think you are feeling so anxious? What might be some of the causes? HOWEVER, there are some things that you can do, that will help no matter what the causes are: they act directly on your body and mind, and will help you calm down. Some of them are:

1) WATER!!! Being low on water ("under-hydrated") contributes to anxiety in a major way - so drinking more water will be a great help!! Juice is ok, but pure water is best. The best way to tell if you are getting enough to drink is the color of your pee: it should be almost clear. If it is more than just a little bit yellow, then you need some more good old H2O - water. Believe me, this does help.

2) Exercise/physical activity: lots of it. Get outside and have some fun.... do you have a bike? You can ride it even in winter if you dress properly: warm gloves and boots (extra socks) and a hat that protects your ears well..... and not too heavy a coat, since biking (or running) holds in too much heat when you are really pumping it. Swimming is great if you can get to a pool on a regular or sem-regular basis: just something about being in the water is very relaxing and refreshing!! Just plain old playing is also wonderful.... street hockey, basketball, whatever. Even if you have to play with younger or older kids, its well worth it to just get out and have some fun instead of just hanging around.

3) Time with nature: being in the natural world has a calming effect on the mind. Is there a park or a woods near you? If you can get someone older to go with you that's best, but if its a safe place you could go alone sometimes....

4) Find someone you can talk with about stuff... someone you can really trust, even its like, a pastor or a school councellor - although a Best Friend is always the most excellent. Even someone you talk with over the internet can be good: just someone you can share things with.... // If you are shy, this may require you to leave your "comfort zone" and reach out a bit, but this is also a good thing to do. If you run into difficulties such as someone betraying your trust and telling someone else something you didn't want known widely, that can be nasty but its still part of life and you can learn from it also - just don't isolate yourself: people are not made to be alone: we are healthiest and happiest when we have people to share our lives with.

5) Sleep. I know with anxiety its harder to sleep, but after some water (yes you'll have to get up to pee, but you'll get better quality sleep and you can fall asleep again easier when you are working with a full tank!!), some exercise, a nice stretch, etc.... you should be able to sleep a better. Teenagers actually need MORE sleep than pre-teens, because your brain and body are growing and developing very quickly and they need more time to repair themselves than before!!! A solid 8 hours is great.. you'll be more refreshed and you'll be able to get more things done in less time (like studying and homework for example) than if you stayed up late to do them. Here are a few tips on how to get better sleep: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20110111215554AAWGYtO . I find the hot then cold shower one to be really useful..... you don't have to get yourself chilled for it to work, just maybe 30 seconds under the cold stream and then dry off REALLY well.

More to come, but Silly Yahoo says my answer is too long, so i'll continue it under another name.. NewScotlandGuy
