Grateful
Ive talk to some people about the ninja 250 most kids, i guess you could say 16-18years old always say that its a weak bike. i dont understand why people would always say that. I've drive mine on the high way and everything i cruse about 75-80 and the Rpms are around 8-9 it has power to pass. I like it, but why do people say its not a high way bike?

There are a lot of people that like to talk about things they have no knowledge of.
Have fun riding, that is all that matters. If you want, tease the naysayers about not putting many miles on their bikes, while you rack up time on yours. Have the numbers on the odometer to back up your claims. I ran into a guy with a great looking R1 that was a couple years old with like 5,000 miles on it. I accidentally said something about how it's almost time for the third oil change and offended him. Ah well, get out and ride your bike!

I have 300 dollars to spend on a mountain bike. What should I look for?
Beaser
I used to race BMX and Mountain Bikes competitively when I was a kid but it has been years since biking. I recently was given a free Murray bike which is about the heaviest and junkiest bike I have ever ridden on. I used to ride Cannondale and Trek. Unfortunately with 300 dollars I know I am very limited for my selection.
What, if anything can I get for 300 dollars or less that would be a decent bike? I ran across a gentleman selling a 2005 GT mountain bike with cyclops trainer and road tires/accessories (odometer, etc) in a package deal for 250. I did a little research and it seems that would be a really good deal. Should I check it out? Or any other recommendations? It's been awhile and I want to jump back into it now that I have located some good trails within an hours drive of my new location.
Thanks again.
Answer
Used is your best bet at that price range. Make sure the GT is the correct size frame. I would also check the local ebay and Craig's list for a good used shop quality bike. If I lived hours from trails I would look for something more road friendly. Hybrids are good on the road and can be ridden dirt and gravel bike paths.
