How can I decide which is safer...a front or rear mounted child seat on my bike?

My hubby says putting a child seat on the front of my beach cruiser is wrong. But from what I've been reading, the front is safer than the rear. Plus I would rather see my son.

Is there a site I can go to that would give me a definite answer?
What do you do?

Thanks!

Answer
Front-mounted seats are very popular and have been used in Asia and Europe for decades. They are less common in North America. Many people swear by these because it is easier to keep an eye on the child and have a conversation with them, and get the child in and out with greater ease. The fore-aft position of the child affects stability. More mass over the front wheel is more stable than mass over the rear wheel. Therefore, a front child seat will be more stable than a rear child seat.

Over three years old a trailer for sure. Most kids get too tall before too heavy for seats.

how many of those high dollar aftermarket Harley Clone bike companies are still In business?

Q. Personally im glad that they are going under,50,000 dollars and a trailer dont make you a biker! I would rather try to keep up with a kid on a Ninja than ride with any of those posers! At least the kid on the sportbike gets out and rides it like he stole it!And That kid always wants to check out my panhead!

People ride for a whole lot of reasons, and some people have a very low tolerance for risk.

If you are on the road with me and on two wheels then I could care less what you are riding. If you wanted the bike with nothing but chrome and the coolest paint job you could find, or just wanted an old beater that could get you from place to place then you are still good with me. Being a "biker" has nothing to do with how much you ride, how fast you ride, or how much leather you wear.

At least one person I know rode for a few years when he was younger, and due to Parkinsons he will never ride again. He is still as much a biker as any man alive because he has faced the same dangers we all have, and he still wants to ride but can't.

Just as many people scream about the Harley tax and ride a metric cruiser as ride Harleys and scream about the expensive custom bikes. Ride what you want, as long as you are riding. When you can not ride anymore then sit and talk about the good old days and offer advice to those just learning to ride.

Being a biker is in the soul, not in the specific "lifestyle" choice you make. Does someone have to play in the NFL to be called a football player? Does someone have to drive in a NAScar race before they are an auto racer? If so than if you are not wearing full colors in a national 1% MC then you are not a biker. So quit being biased against what someone else rides or how they ride.

Oh and BTW, this is coming from someone that used to track race superbikes in Japan, and now owns a Heritage Softail Classic and rides it every day rain or shine to and from work plus just for fun to the tune of at least 100 miles per day. Does that make me a biker in your eyes, or is there another hoop I need to jump through?
